WHY DIABETES?
We are interested in finding a definitive solution to diabetes, a very common metabolic disease with high socio-economic cost in Argentina and all over the world.
Diabetes is a chronic disease characterized by high blood sugar (hyperglycemia) that can damage the arteries and some organs.
According to the last National Risk Factor Survey approximately 10% of the Argentine population has diabetes, and it is estimated that half of those affected are unaware of their condition.
Proper diagnosis, follow-up and treatment can prevent complications in people with diabetes. Developing a cure for this disease is at present a challenge for the scientific community.
